Preprocedure:
Do not take your calcium supplement on the morning of your bone density test.

While you are resting comfortably, painless ultrasound images are taken of your thyroid gland. This procedure is easy and painless.

Nothing to eat or drink for one hour.

What To Expect:
During this office procedure, a small needle will be used to obtain samples of your thyroid gland. For this procedure, local anaesthesia with lidocaine is usually employed.

Preprocedure:
Nothing to eat or drink for two hours.
