Adam Mayerson, M.D., FACE
Endocrinologist

Dr. Adam Mayerson founded Endocrine Associates of Connecticut in October 2001 with his late partner Dr. Gordon Reid. Dr. Mayerson was born and raised in Somerset, New Jersey. In 1992, he earned his B.A. in Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Brandeis University. He earned his M.D. at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996.

Dr. Mayerson completed his Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1999 and a fellowship in Endocrinology & Metabolism at the Yale School of Medicine in 2001. He was named Associate Section Chief of Endocrinology at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2007. He is actively involved with teaching Yale medical students, resident and fellows, holding the title of Associate Clinical Professor at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Mayerson was elected President of the New Haven County Medical Association for the 2009-2010 term.

Philip Goldberg, M.D., FACE, ECNU
Endocrinologist

Dr. Philip Goldberg established the shoreline (Branford) office of Endocrine Associates of Connecticut in October 2005. Dr. Goldberg was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. In 1992, he earned his B.A. in Psychology from Cornell University. After earning his M.D. at Cornell University Medical College in 1996, Dr. Goldberg completed his Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1999. Then, after spending two years practicing primary care at Clinton Internal Medicine (Clinton, CT), Dr. Goldberg returned to Yale University in 2001 to complete a four-year fellowship in Endocrinology & Metabolism. Dr. Goldberg is a dedicated clinician and teacher. In and out of the office, he devotes much of his time to educating medical students, residents, and fellows at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he is a Clinical Assistant Professor.

Surani Fernando, M.D., FACE, ECNU
Endocrinologist

Dr. Surani Fernando has been part of Endocrine Associates of Connecticut since January 2007. She was born in Sri Lanka and raised in Queens, New York. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbia College, New York receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She subsequently earned her M.D at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Fernando then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2000 and was Chief Resident at the Department of Medicine, Hospital of Saint Raphaels in 2001. She returned to Yale University to complete a three-year fellowship in Endocrinolgy, Diabetes and Metabolism, where she devoted her research time to the study of hypoglycemia in Type 1 Diabetes. Along with her busy clinical practice at Endocrine Associates, she is also a preceptor and educator for medical students, residents and fellows at the Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Fernando is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. She is a member of both the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr. Fernando has earned professional certification (ECNU) in neck ultrasonography, for physicians who perform consultations and diagnostic evaluations for thyroid and parathyroid disorders (including ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration). This certification is bestowed by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Kai Yang, M.D., FACE
Endocrinologist

Dr. Kai Yang joined Metabolism Associates, in New Haven, CT in 1997 and subsequently Endocrine Associates of Connecticut in 2001. In 1984, she earned her B.A. in Biochemistry and English at Smith College. After earning her M.D. at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD, Dr. Yang completed her Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in 1991. She then completed a fellowship/research training in Endocrinology & Metabolism at Yale. Dr. Yang is a dedicated clinician and teacher, and led the Thyroid Conference/monthly Endocrine Tumor Board at Yale University School of Medicine, for seventeen years. She continues to assist with the Thyroid Conference, where she is Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Endocrinology. She is involved in the medical school teaching curriculum and has precepted nurse practitioners/medical students in both clinical practice and in doctoral studies. She is active on several committees to improve diabetes management.

Irina Rosewater, M.D.
Endocrinologist

Dr Rosewater was born in Kiev, Ukraine and moved to New Haven, C T with her family in 1990. She graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1993 and went on to earn a BA in Zoology from Connecticut College in New London, CT in 1997. Subsequently, she earned my MD from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at UMDNJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical College. She then returned to CT and completed a three-year fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Yale University. In August of 2009 she was delighted to join Endocrine Associates and combines clinical practice with medical education, working with medical residents from Hospital of St Raphael.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and is a member of Endocrine society, and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Jean Henry, M.D.
Endocrinologist

Dr. Jean Henry began her practice of Endocrinology with Metabolism Associates (New Haven, CT) in 1996. She then joined Endocrine Associates of Connecticut when it was founded in 2001. After the birth of her second set of twins in August 2001, Dr. Henry took a leave to care for her young children. During this time, she stayed actively involved in the Yale School of Medicine, helping to develop and run the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course.

After several years, Dr. Henry returned to work part-time at Beyond Care in Branford, CT. In 2011, she rejoined Endocrine Associates of Connecticut. She continues to work part-time (three days per week), to balance her enjoyable practice and her busy family life.

Dr. Henry was born and raised in Long Island, NY. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1987 from the University Center at Binghamton (NY). She then earned her Medical Degree from the Medical College of Virginia (Richmond, VA) in 1991. Between 1991 to 1996, Dr. Henry trained at Yale-New Haven Hospital, completing both her Internal Medicine residency and a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Dr. Henry is board-certified in Internal Medicine, as well as Endocrinology and Metabolism. She enjoys all aspects of the clinical practice of Endocrinology.

Donna Greenberg, M.S.N., A.P.R.N., C.D.E.

Donna Greenberg, MSN, APRN, CDE, graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1983, earning her RN diploma. In 1997, she graduated from Quinnipiac College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health and Science. Donna then graduated with distinction from the Quinnipiac University Adult Nurse Practitioner program, and she received her Master of Science in Nursing degree in May 2007. Donna earned the Quinnipiac University Faculty Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence for her performance in the Adult Nurse Practitioner program.

Donna has been practicing nursing for over 30 years, with clinical emphasis on internal medicine, cardiac care, and diabetes care. Her professional experiences include critical care nursing, cardiovascular nursing, cardiac rehabilitation, ambulatory surgery, and post-anesthesia care. During recent years, Donna has turned her professional focus towards caring for patients with diabetes. Immediately prior to joining Endocrine Associates of Connecticut, Donna worked as a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist at Yale New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael Campus.

Donna’s professional affiliations include memberships in the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, and the Connecticut Association of Diabetes Educators.

Karen Moriarty, M.S.N., A.N.P.-B.C.

Karen Moriarty, MSN, ANP-BC, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. In 1994, she began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Karen is a 2002 graduate of the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at Yale University, where she was inducted into the National Honor Society of Nursing. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Yale University in 2002.

Karen’s extensive nursing experience includes adult inpatient medicine, HIV/AIDS, and medical intensive care. At Yale New Haven Hospital, she achieved Clinical Nurse II status and co-chaired the Yale MICU Sedation Committee. As a clinical nurse practitioner, Karen first worked in the field of Rheumatology. She is interested in helping patients manage chronic disease, one of many reasons she is excited to join Endocrine Associates of Connecticut.

Karen’s professional affiliations include membership in CTAPRNS and the American Diabetes Association.
